Old Habits
Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 7:51AM I don’t think there is any question that I am dangerously obese. I’m nearly the heaviest I have been in just over 10 years. The last time I was this heavy, I had to have surgery to try to correct it. I can’t say I haven’t thought about it. But my last go round had so many complications and ultimately the results put me back where I am. But maybe that is another entry or probably something I’ll save for the show. What I want to talk about is my eating habits.
I’m not going to sit here and say that I’m eating 100% healthy. Yesterday I had my usual breakfast, a single serving of old fashion oatmeal with about a tablespoon of light brown sugar, a teaspoon of soft margarine and a banana. Lunch was a lettuce and carrot salad with and 1/8 cup of home made ranch, ¼ cup of crutons, 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese and 2 tablespoons of canned chicken.
Throughout the day, I had a few small bags of snacks, although I just realized yesterday they aren’t the 100 calorie packs. Otherwise I drank 3 cups of coffee, which I take with sweet ‘n low and creamer, a cup of ice tea which I also take with sweet ‘n low and one bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper.
But then I get home. I make myself a margarita. I have more tea, which is fine. But dinner is a pork chop, cooked in olive oil, stuffing made from carrots, onions, celery, butter and bread crumbs and for a veggie, green beans. This sounds fine; accept over the course of the night, I probably ate at least 2 to 3 cups of the stuffing. Because it was sitting there.
So, from now on, I think I’m going to have to make sure that once we make our plates and the meal is over, that I put the leftovers up. Out of sight, Out of mind.
