RFC Moves to tfradio.com
RFC is moving again, this time to www.tfradio.com. Brian considered redirecting it to the current site but is saving it for the new site, coming soon. Listeners can now reach him at brian@tfradio.com.
Transformers: The Movie Parody Still in Progress
The next part of the Transformers: The Movie parody is not done yet. Zobovor is still working on it, and Brian asks listeners to keep waiting.
Transformers Comic Issue 72 Listed on eBay for $51
Trixter pointed Brian to an eBay listing for the Transformers comic, issue 72 as he recalls, at $51. Brian calls it insane, since he bought the same issue in similar condition from mycomicshop.com for about a dollar. [Source: eBay]
ATT Buzz
John DeLuna reports ATT hummed along fairly well in its second week of trying to stay on topic. Beast Machines Thrust and Blackarachnia have started showing up at Kmart, where John jokes the toy aisles always look hit by a tornado. Threads on ATT debated Transformers names that make little sense or are puns on alt modes. John thinks most names work as nicknames given after a major body change, though he wonders where names like Jazz came from.
Toy Review: Beast Machines Striker
Goldimus Prime reviews Striker from the Deluxe Dinobots subline, a stegosaurus repaint of the Beast Wars Neo toy Saberback. He praises the molding, copper color scheme and backlight-reactive red plates. The transformation is frustratingly complex, and the robot mode has a flower-petal gimmick with a lot of kibble. He scores beast mode a 7 and robot mode a 6. Overall, Striker gets a 7 and is worth about $10 for completists or dinosaur fans who skip Neo import prices.
Brian’s Rant on alt.toys.transformers
Brian says he and ATT no longer see eye to eye. He regrets lashing out at another poster, saying it only sped up the decline. Off-topic posts, crude humor and fading Transformers discussion now overshadow the group, he argues, even during a Transformers renaissance. He admits he has added to the problem himself. Brian says he is not leaving and still sees ATT as a family. He asks listeners to vote in the RFC poll on the newsgroup.
Trivia
Last week’s clip came from Rebirth Part 1. HotRodimus6, Hugh Ben and Rodimus123 got it right. A new clip is played twice and posted on the RFC site.
Episode Review: Beast Machines, Spark of Darkness
Brian dislikes the episode name, which sounds like bad fan fiction to him, but enjoys its humor. Megatron is not dead after Nightscream’s attack depolarized his spark. The rogue spark possesses drones and bodies before landing in the diagnostic drone, and Strika and Obsidian turn on the Maximals. Brian calls it a filler episode, short on plot and long on contrived devices. It beats last week’s episode, but he still ranks it third worst of Season 2. Spark of Darkness gets a 6.
