Comics With LadyWreck
IDW’s January solicitations include Infestation #1, the start of the movie-universe prequels Rising Storm and Foundation, the end of Sector 7 and ongoing #15. Drift and IDW Collection Volume 3 also get trade collections. Aimee’s Transformers: Prime digest arrived, about the size of a CD case, with individual issues coming in January. Sector 7 #2 is out this week.
Fanboy Versus covered Drift this week with Chris McFeely, in what Brian’s wife called a merciless discussion.
This Week in History
October 27 marks the premiere of the G1 episode S.O.S. Dinobots, which sparks a debate about why Wheeljack built giant robots and made them dumb. On October 24, 1998, the Beast Wars episode Optimal Situation premiered.
RFC Year-End Giveaway
RFC is giving away a stack of comics, including Earthforce, Perchance to Dream, Treason, King Grimlock, Matrix Quest and Showdown trades, plus Titan magazines and other prizes. Fans on facebook.com/tfradio, twitter.com/tfradio and the TF Radio Network YouTube channel are already eligible. Winners will be announced on the December 29 show.
TFWiki Spotlight: Pat Lee
Chris McFeely spotlights TFWiki’s article on former Dreamwave artist Pat Lee, largely written by Nevermore. It covers his work and history with Dreamwave, including claims that creators went unpaid and that he signed art he did not draw. McFeely hopes readers outside the fandom see it, since Lee has a new series, Widow Warriors.
Favorite G1 Episodes
With most topics focused on toys, Brian asks for favorite G1 episodes. Picks include Face of the Nijika, Nightmare Planet, Carnage in C-Minor, Heavy Metal War, Roll for It, Webworld, Sea Change, Fight or Flee, Dweller in the Depths, The Ultimate Weapon and The Killing Jar. Call of the Primitives, once the fandom’s default favorite, gets mixed reviews.
Aimee still remembers her rage at Bot as an eight-year-old, and City of Steel and Child’s Play earn laughs. Rob calls The Rebirth hardcore fun, though the crew prefers Rodimus Prime as leader.
Twitter Theater
Rob’s pick is a Japanese comedy short built from G1 footage, with Starscream shot by an arrow, multiple Sixshots and Blaster ejecting a cassette that turns into a trombone, plus a blooper reel.
