News
Kabaya Fortress Maximus Announced
Kabaya is making a Fortress Maximus as a small combining set, like its earlier Land Cross. Brian loves Kabaya’s candy toys and keeps a Kabaya Convoy on his desk at work. The crew expects it to be smaller than Takara’s Fortress Maximus Jr. Brian hopes CapturedPrey, which stocks plenty of Kabaya, will be at BotCon. [Source: not found]
iGear Reveals Cogz
iGear has revealed Cogz, its homage to Gears, in a new, slightly larger minibot size than Spray and Rager. Brian likes the colors and plans to buy one for about $30. He says iGear will replace the duplicate right forearm that came with his Rager. The crew dislikes the oversized guns iGear gives its minibots. [Source: not found]
Prime Voyager Is Swerve, Not Swoop
A rumored Transformers Prime Voyager Swoop was a misread Japanese listing; it is actually Swerve. The crew expects it to use the Breakdown mold. [Source: not found]
Review: Transformers Prime, Nemesis Prime
One host was looking forward to the episode and came away both disappointed and not. A truck that looks like Optimus Prime runs Agent Fowler off a bridge, which shocked her kids. It turns out to be Nemesis Prime, a puppet controlled by Silas, and it is smashed by the end. JD is saddened that Silas’s consciousness appears to be going into Breakdown’s body. The crew thinks Breakdown is really dead, since they doubt the show will add that depth to a Decepticon. They laugh that the Autobots split up and fall for Nemesis Prime despite Optimus’s warning, though Bumblebee does catch on. The crew notes the show is setting up repaints. One host gives Miko credit for naming Nemesis Prime, which helped her kids, who had never seen him.
TF BBQ: Do We Want It Because We Love It?
In his prerecorded segment, Rob asks whether fans want a G1 Arcee or a Defcon because they love the character or just because they’ve never gotten one. Third-party Arcees turn into motorcycles, and a Generations Arcee would still be a modern sports car, not the 1986 movie design. He notes Defcon appeared in one cartoon episode and was meaner in club fiction. He asks listeners to weigh in.
Comic News With LadyWreck
Nick Roche’s How to Draw Transformers Prime book is out. Artist Alley problems for BotCon have cleared up. For Free Comic Book Day, the Regeneration One team will sign at Orbital Comics in London from noon to 2.
Review: Autocracy #7
LadyWreck buys Autocracy #7 on the show. Zeta Prime stands over an energy-drained Orion Pax, and Megatron steps in. He overloads Zeta’s weapon by tossing a balcony full of onlookers at it, and Zeta flees. Shockwave repairs Orion, and Megatron proposes they bring Zeta down together. Orion advises Hot Rod about hard leadership choices, then shakes Megatron’s hand before the Autobots. She gives it 3 out of 5 stars: the art is spectacular, but halfway through she still isn’t sure where the series is going.
The Chat
Chatters say store shelves are empty of Transformers apart from Prime toys, and the next Generations wave may not arrive until around August. Dark of the Moon toys are turning up on clearance. The chat liked Nemesis Prime more than the hosts did.
BotCon 2012 Want Lists
The crew notes that BotCon’s dealer room bans third-party products. JD jokes he’ll be looking for the guy in the trench coat selling Hercules. One host has nearly everything he wants, aside from maybe MP-10 Optimus Prime or the Devastator Encore set. Exvee wants another Windcharger and the Transformers United G2 Megatron. John DeLuna hopes to find the Japanese Generations book exclusive Stepper for under $100. Another host wants Robot Masters molds, and LadyWreck plans to buy art prints. The crew expects plenty of rare Japanese color variants and cheap Prime First Edition figures.
RFC Announcements
RFC’s Facebook page is near 820 fans, and the crew wants 1,000 before BotCon. Next week is the pre-BotCon show.
