Diecast Interviews Da-Ca Toys About Kronos
At the New Jersey Collectors Con, Diecast interviewed Da-Ca Toys about Kronos, its Masterpiece-style take on the cartoon Skyfire. Kronos stands 14 inches tall, towers over Masterpiece Optimus Prime MP-10 and weighs about five pounds. It costs around $165, and only 1,000 will be made. Retailers have already bought the full run, and Big Bad Toy Store listed it as sold out. Release is planned for late March or early April, and the interview is on RFC’s Facebook page.
This Week in History
Frank Welker was born this week in 1946. The crew runs through his roles, from Freddy on Scooby-Doo to Megatron, Soundwave, Rumble and Frenzy. Neil Kaplan, the voice of Optimus Prime in Robots in Disguise (2001), also has a birthday. In 1998, Cartoon Network’s Toonami debuted the Beast Wars episodes Code of Hero, Transmutate and the three-part Agenda. Those episodes won Brian over, and he won an Airazor that week by redialing the giveaway hotline.

Age of Extinction IMAX Poster
A new Age of Extinction IMAX poster shows the same shot as the last trailer. Nobody cares much about the poster. Much of the movie was reportedly shot in IMAX, and one host plans to see it that way. [Source: TFormers]
BotCon 2014 Reveals Farrakh and Tornado
The BotCon 2014 convention set adds Farrakh and Tornado, built on the Nightstick and Cyclonus molds. The crew likes the colors and the use of the Cyclonus mold. One host had to look up Farrakh and now wants the rest of Squadron X. Another says the set will not win him over, and that only a GoBots set would make BotCon a must-have. [Source: not found]
Unique Toys Reveals Salmore, a Not-Cy-Kill
Unique Toys reveals Salmore, a homage to Cy-Kill, leader of the GoBots Renegades. Brian loves it regardless of quality, and one host already wants a green recolor. It is about $100, and the crew notes Unique Toys’ uneven quality on its Predaking homage. Don explains that Hasbro owns the GoBots names while Bandai keeps the molds. The crew hopes a Leader-1 follows. [Source: not found]
New Test Shots of Fans Toys Scoria
New test shots of Fans Toys Scoria show plenty of gold and flames in its mouth. One host loves it except for the size, since it stands taller than Masterpiece Grimlock even in booster feet. The crew jokes about propping Grimlock up on old cassette tapes. [Source: not found]
Q&A with Rob Springer
Michael Smith worries that simplified Age of Extinction toys will alienate older fans and remove the challenge for kids. Rob says Hasbro is still making regular Transformers for the movie. Simple toys target young kids, while Generations covers older fans. Even a simple toy can be a stepping stone that makes a kid wonder how it works.
Joelanta This Weekend
Brian and Rob Springer will have a table at Joelanta in Atlanta on March 15 and 16, and Rob is hosting a Transformers panel. Brian also updates the JD Church memorial fund at tfradio.net/JD, about halfway to its $10,000 goal, and says a JD tribute show is coming.
