Hasbro Pulse Con 2021 reveals the first Transformers Legacy wave, led by Laser Optimus Prime, Dragstrip and a Generations-style Prime Arcee and Bulkhead. The crew debates Legacy’s G1 filter and what a trailer-based Menasor means for combiner play.
Matt and Diecast report back from TFCon, Brian recounts a messy Pulse Con fan wall, and Red Hoist goes up for preorder. The double-sized haul includes Combiner Wars Liokaiser, Kingdom Tigatron and a stack of TFCon customs.
TFCon 2021 Report
Matt and Diecast are fresh back from TFCon. Diecast saw more attendees but fewer dealers, with TFSource, Chosen Prime, Toy Dojo and Ages Three and Up on hand. Guests included Gregg Berger and Bob Budiansky. Matt says the cavernous hotel left lots of empty space, likely for social distancing. He was just glad to see friends after two years, and attendees wore masks without complaint. Convention exclusives were a black New Age Megatron and an early Rung.
Hasbro Pulse Con Experience
Brian’s second Hasbro fan wall went poorly. Unlike the organized breakout rooms at Fan Fest, Pulse Con put everyone in one big chat with no cues. Brian stepped away during the Power Rangers panel, and his ceiling ended up on the fan wall. One host found that the Hasbro Pulse app let him order Pulse Premium-only items like Covert Agent Ravage without a membership. Ravage stayed in stock, but the Galvatron accessory pack for HasLab Unicron sold fast. The crew expects Hasbro to rerun it, as it has with other Pulse exclusives.
Elf on a Shellformer
With November next, Brian previews Elf on a Shellformer. The idea is to buy shelfwarmers like Wingfinger, Trax or Wheeljack and donate them to kids in need. Brian’s adopted children had nothing before foster care unless a program like Toys for Tots stepped in. Ross has recent Cyberverse toys, and one listener’s local Ollie’s is full of Grapples. Brian may bring back the Amazon wish list for listeners with no drop-off nearby.

RFC News Desk 153 – Pulsecon 2021 Recap
Pulse Con showed the first Transformers Legacy wave: Laser Optimus Prime, Skids, Bulkhead, Prime Arcee, Kickback and Dragstrip. Laser Optimus Prime is the big winner for at least two hosts. One host likes Dragstrip but doesn’t dig the texture on Kickback’s wings. Hasbro says Legacy brings characters from across the brand into a Generations style. The crew finds Prime Arcee closer to her source than Bulkhead, who reads like Movie Hound fused with Bulkhead. One host calls it a funhouse mirror and a flattening of the brand toward G1. Dragstrip has no combiner parts, which suggests Menasor’s frame lives in Motormaster’s trailer. One host mourns the loss of scramble play but would accept a good Menasor. Blade Raider just wants a good deluxe Swindle. Several hosts expect to buy little of wave one. One host preordered anyway and feels better about Legacy than he did about Siege. [Source: TFRadio]
Red Hoist
Red Hoist went up on Hasbro Pulse. The crew loves the Lift Ticket name reference, and briefly wonders whether the colors match the G.I. Joe character. [Source: not found]
What We Got This Week
Chris got Siege Galaxy Force Prime in a good deal from a Discord member. It is not as nice as Ultra Magnus, but he loves the yellow-eyed cab robot. Kingdom Tigatron, bought early from CMD Store, is a true quality-of-life upscale of Kingdom Cheetor. The beast mode hides the robot arms, the fragile tabs are gone, and Tigatron finally has the gut gun. His biggest pickup is a complete Combiner Wars Liokaiser from Discord member Vendo. He loves its colors in hand and the saturated pink on Guyhawk.
Don found his second Sharkticon, all he needs. Ness sent him a Covert Agent Ravage, and Matt is sending another. Don loves the packaging and diorama too much to open the first one.
Brian got Rescue Bots math flashcards from his wife Kim, who meant them for their five-year-old.
Rob got Kingdom Warpath for $14 on Amazon. It is a decent toy, but he prefers the smoother Generations Warpath, and the fiddly tabs frustrate him.
Matt received Kingdom Road Rage as a late birthday gift from Brian, and loves the Diaclone reference. At TFCon he found a loose Universe Ruination in the camo colors he has wanted for years. He bought a Diaclone-colored Ironhide custom and a Soundwave blanket. He also got a Josh Bertram print of Springer among fallen Wreckers and a Studio Series 86 figure from friend Opt Rod.
Diecast got Shattered Glass Goldbug from Hasbro Pulse. At TFCon he picked up Mech Fans Toys’ black and red Sixshot, Deformation Space Crimson Wings and the black New Age Megatron exclusive. He also found a $5 Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus trailer, a Scorponok upgrade kit and two Scrapfaces to finish his camera. Covert Agent Ravage underwhelmed him at the price. His favorites are customs, starting with a Rhinox on the Siege Ironhide mold. He also got a black and white Optimus Primal on the Titans Return Apeface mold, with an Optimus Minor, plus a Packrat. The early Rung is not for him, and he plans to sell it at cost. He also got Shadow Panther from Amazon.
