2027 AOTP Replacement Line Found: Enter Age of Evolution with Animated Lugnut, Energon Scorponok, G2 Megatron & More

JT Prime’s list names Age of Evolution as the line replacing Age of the Primes. Deluxes include Barricade, Nightbird and a Collapse nobody can place. Voyagers include G2 Megatron and Animated Slipstream, and nobody is sure which Megatron mold it uses. One host loves Transformers Animated but won’t get excited given recent Animated hits and misses. Brian loves Energon Scorponok, so the Leader Class version is a win for him. One host noted the original toy has structural problems, so a new take is welcome. Leader Animated Lugnut and a Generations Selects Titan Energon Tidal Wave are also listed. A Walmart Megatron Rising Resistance capsule has an unusual mix of two Deluxes, three Voyagers, a Leader and a multipack. Deluxe Rook is the gray Collectors’ Club Windcharger repaint, not the Combiner Wars Rook fans want. One host will be furious if Glyph and Tap Out still don’t get made. Deluxe Viper, Voyager Scoop and Voyager Slash are listed too. The crew expects Scoop to be a Scrapper repaint with a new head. These are the all-plastic AMK versions, not the AMK Pro with metal. One host has the AMK Starscream, so he needs these. Another host has the AMK Pro Starscream and wants to wait for Pro versions, which may never come. Brian says these carded minis are about the size of the Dollar Tree Transformers, a bit larger than the World’s Smallest Transformers. The ten figures include Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Megatron, Soundwave, the Seekers and a gold Optimus Prime. The promo shows Optimus Prime and Bumblebee shopping for them with a tiny cart. One host noted Show-Z Store lists it under Craftsman Toys, maker of the Legends Class Computron he and Diecast own. Based on those Technobots, he is a lot less worried about quality. Flame Toys’ Cyclonus is $400 and stands 210mm, with light-up eyes and chest. He comes with multiple swords, including a giant one with a scabbard. One host says it isn’t his cup of tea. Matt had nothing in Transformers this week.

Don

Don got X-Transbots’ Double Targetmaster Landfill, a retool of their Long Haul, as they did with Scrapper for Scoop. It’s the Autobot Double Targetmaster Devastator Don wants Hasbro to make. He likes the look and materials, and it comes with two heads. He got it from Show-Z Store about $60 cheaper than domestic sellers, in about 10 days. Don also got the Timelines two-pack of Optimus Prime and Starscream. Starscream is better than expected, though his lower legs hang too low in bird mode. The star is Optimus Prime, who turns from an ox and cart into a tight Earthrise Deluxe-style robot. Don calls it amazing and will be extremely fond of it.

Diecast

Walmart.com canceled Diecast’s Outback order, but he found one at a Walmart in Alabama while there for work. Since Outback is basically a Brawn repaint, he loves the retro card art and will hang it on his wall unopened. Don has an extra Outback from an order Walmart says doesn’t exist.

Rob

Rob had nothing in Transformers this week.

Brian

Brian gave Studio Series 86 Soundwave’s cassettes a fairer look and finds them shockingly good. Laserbeak and Buzzsaw fold out well for their tiny size. Ravage’s separate tail is his only real flaw, and Brian calls him the best Ravage since 2008, Masterpiece aside. He found Nexus Prime at Target. Its red, blue and face sculpt look sharp, and it reads like a Transformers: Devastation troop builder. Brian won’t transform it, calling the alt mode a pancake. He’d buy more at $10 but finds $43 a lot to ask. After John’s praise last week, Brian bought Diaclone Shield-D Prime from Mandarake and paid extra duties. He hasn’t transformed it yet. It has many spots for pilots and accessories, and he thinks the mouth runs on batteries. He finds it satisfying, though something feels slightly off, and will say more next week.
