BotCon 2014 Returns to California
Word got out that BotCon 2014 will be in California, with a hotel block from June 17 to 24. The crew hopes it lines up with a movie preview, as BotCon did in 2007. Don points out it is BotCon’s 20th anniversary, so it may be special. He hopes for the unused OTFCC Defensor, though others doubt it fits the convention’s box-set format. Fans Project’s Not-Weirdwolf Nears Release and Not-Brainstorms Multiply

Q&A with Rob Springer
Brad Mull asks whether Rob would buy the reissued Fortress Maximus or Planet X Genesis for the same price. Rob picks Fortress Maximus, since he would rather spend $400 on something official. He prefers third-party toys that fill gaps, like Brainstorm or Box Bomber, over new takes on available characters.
Comic News with Aimee
Nick Roche and Andrew Griffith will share a table at New York Comic Con in October. Roll Out Roll Call announced its guest lineup for Southampton, UK, on October 12 and 13. Aimee demos Madefire’s motion comic of Autocracy, which costs $1.99 on the iPad, with new issues weekly. The November solicits begin Dark Cybertron, with chapters in More Than Meets the Eye #23 and Robots in Disguise #23. She also covers Beast Hunters #7, the next ReGeneration One issue and new collected editions, and plugs her Etsy shop, Wrecked Apparel.
Fans Project Headmasters and Sandstorm
Diecast found a color photo of Smart Robin. The crew thinks it looks like Brainstorm apart from a missing mouthplate. Don likes that the cheaper Fans Project Headmasters make repaints affordable. The crew also discusses Generations Sandstorm, which Rob says fixes everything that frustrated him about Springer. One host notes that Nick Roche drew Sandstorm concept art that appears to be the basis for the mold.
What We Got This Week
Rob got Generations Sandstorm and likes it far more than Springer, though its missile only fires about a foot.
