TakaraTomy stock photos give us our first real look at these toys.
Trailbreaker’s preorder period in Japan has just ended today, while Sunstreaker’s is expected to begin tomorrow. But stock photos of Sunstreaker have apparently leaked a bit early, and have been reshared by Autobase Aichi. These first five photos show our first look at the back of the robot mode, most notably. If accurately indicative of the final production colors, the yellow plastic also seems to have escaped the unfortunate waxy translucency that can sometimes befall yellow toys. Combiner Wars Sunstreaker, for example. While we had already identified that Sunstreaker is built with the legs essentially in a reversed orientation as compared to Wheeljack, the transformation engineering between them is shown to be otherwise unchanged to any meaningful degree, based on these new images.
Along with Trailbreaker’s stock photos, TakaraTomy’s Transformers Twitter account had shared a couple of additional photos. Of course Trailbreaker doesn’t have as much difference from Hoist as Sunstreaker does from Wheeljack, the important parts are covered. Besides the obvious new face, there are changes to the truck bed parts and a new camper shell accessory is added. Trailbreaker’s order period in Japan may be over now, but for those of us in Hasbro markets, there’s still plenty of time to either preorder both of these toys, or to acquire them upon retail release later this year.
