Chris Hemsworth in Talks to Star in Transformers and G.I. Joe Crossover Movie
Chris Hemsworth, already voicing Optimus Prime in Transformers One, is in talks to star in the Rise of the Beasts sequel, likely as a G.I. Joe character. The crew wants Peter Cullen to keep working as long as he likes, and one host would love to see Garry Chalk back. Several hosts doubt any real crossover survives editing, since the 2007-era movies already had G.I. Joe in all but name. One host wants Cobra to break Megatron out of Hoover Dam and repaint him while the Joes fight back, and another suggested Hemsworth as Zartan. [Source: Deadline]
Takara Tomy Masterpiece MPG-10 Lift Ticket and MPG-11 DK-2 Guard Official Reveal
MPG-10 Lift Ticket reuses Masterpiece Hoist, and MPG-11 DK-2 Guard reuses the eight-year-old Masterpiece Ironhide. Chris says that proves MPG is just the new Masterpiece branding. Matt has waited eight years for a black Masterpiece Ironhide, a toy he bashed before falling in love with it in hand. Don will skip the black Ironhide but get Lift Ticket, since he already has an X-Transbots Hoist. Brian dubbed DK-2 Guard Vanguard. He is done with Masterpiece and is selling MP-44, though he is keeping MP-10 and a few favorites. [Source: TFW2005]
Transformers One Prime Changers Bumblebee and Sentinel Prime New Stock Images
New stock images show Transformers One Prime Changers Bumblebee and Sentinel Prime, the Deluxe-adjacent mainline figures. Both carry a lot of paint. Sentinel Prime has Animated colors and looks like a Fall of Cybertron Seeker, so the crew expects a Starscream repaint someday. [Source: TFW2005]
Takara Tomy EarthSpark New Releases: Deluxe Jawbreaker, Hashtag, Elita-1 and Aftermath
Takara Tomy revealed new EarthSpark Deluxes. Aftermath, a purple and black tow truck with an old-style, almost Disney look, is the crew’s new favorite. Jawbreaker gets a proper Deluxe upgrade. Hashtag and Elita-1 are modified Warrior class toys, with Hashtag losing the combiner port and Elita-1 gaining neck articulation. Chris hates that EarthSpark may end after season two just as the toys hit their stride. Rob said what he loves is new characters with good toys and no decades of comparisons. [Source: TFW2005]
Takara Tomy Missing Link Bumblebee and Cliffjumper Packaging and Die-Cast Parts
Takara Tomy shared package mockups, styrofoam tray models, sticker sheets and die-cast part locations for Missing Link Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. One host would love a carded version. One host noted the Autobot symbols are tampo printed, with optional stickers for the wide packaging-style symbol. [Source: TFW2005]
Takara Dramatic Capture Series Autobot Set Official Reveal
The Dramatic Capture Autobot set includes Optimus Prime, Jazz and Mainframe, with Sky Spy, for 13,200 yen, about $85. The crew loves Mainframe, and Chris noted HeyMickey once customized his Ark Teletraan 1 the same way. One host has no interest in the set but relayed Ben Yee’s idea to recolor the other two in Action Master colors. This Optimus Prime has the cartoon’s white pelvis and thighs, though Studio Series 86 will likely make it redundant. [Source: TFW2005]
GameStop x Transformers Promotional Campaign
Spend $25 on Hasbro Transformers at GameStop and get a free Skybound Transformers #1 with an exclusive variant cover. The crew noted that some GameStops carry little Transformers stock worth buying. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series 86 Bumblebee In-Hand Photos
In-hand photos show Studio Series 86 Bumblebee. One host loves it and says the body would work well as a gold bug. The windows are painted black, which Hasbro explained comes from the mold breakdown. [Source: Snakas Blog]
Studio Series Gamer Edition GE-08 Decepticon Soldier In-Hand Images
Chris cares even less about the Gamer Edition Decepticon Trooper after seeing it in hand. Another host likes it as a clone trooper but will wait for clearance to troop-build. Generic Devastation Decepticon troopers come to Target next year. [Source: TFW2005]
Blokees Transformers Galaxy Version Wave 4 Images
Blokees Galaxy Version wave 4 has a slightly chibi Tarn, Smokescreen and Ultra Magnus. The crew dubbed it pubescent Tarn. One host wants the Constructicon Scrapper from an earlier wave. [Source: TFW2005]
What We Got This Week
Don
Don had nothing this week.
Matt
Matt got the Studio Series 86 Blaster and Eject, the opaque repaints, and the gunmetal gray and white face make a big difference. He also got the Voyager Starscream’s Ghost from the Takara Tomy two-pack. It is gorgeous, but its nylon forearms and knees already show a green tinge.
Rob
Rob got Studio Series 86 Brawn as an early birthday gift from Blade Raider, and he likes both modes. He also got Gears at retail on Amazon and calls it fun to transform. A Hasbro Pulse sale netted Towline, the War Dawn two-pack and Transmetal 2 Megatron for $70 total. Megatron surprised him: bulky, heavy and a great big red dragon.
Chris
Chris got Legacy Tigerhawk but has not opened the shipping box yet.
Brian Kilby
Brian made his first Suruga-ya purchase and is keeping it a surprise until next week.
