Dreamwave Transformers Energon Issues 31 and 32 Completed Two Decades Later
Dreamwave Productions went bankrupt about 20 years ago with approved Transformers Energon scripts still unpublished. A group of fans has now drawn, colored and lettered issues 31 and 32 from those Simon Furman scripts. The finished comics are free to download as PDFs, with full credits for every contributor. One host skimmed them and praised the art and coloring, though the Furman style is obvious right away. The crew stressed that this is a fan production, not an official Hasbro release. The talk drifted to Adam Patyk’s Armada run, which several hosts preferred to the cartoon. [Source: TFW2005]
Battersea Power Station Transformers Store Celebrates Its First Anniversary
The Battersea Power Station Transformers Store in London is turning one. The weekend opens with a free voice actor meet and greet. A limited, ticketed fan get-together for content creators follows at five pounds per person. On Sunday, the store opens a space for an hour so fans can swap Blokees Defenders duplicates. One host admitted he never expected a Transformers-only store to last a year, calling it a significant accomplishment. [Source: TFW2005]
Takara Tomy Transformers Miniature Package Collection Wave 1 Promo Photos
Takara Tomy’s Miniature Package Collection shrinks classic Transformers boxes into tiny keychains. One host would happily carry one, and another pictured them as a wall display for fans with limited space. Some inserts look like flat printouts, such as Megatron and Scourge, while others have some depth. The crew felt the 3D figures sit too far back in the windows, and Galvatron suffers most. Bumblebee’s box has no window at all. [Source: TFW2005]
Auldey Alpha Action Elite Wave 3 Images Reveal a Stunning Galvatron
Auldey’s Alpha Action Elite Wave 3 images arrived, and the Galvatron stole the show. One host called it the best cartoon Galvatron ever, with a spot-on face. The Insecticons look good together, while Hot Rod looks a little awkward. The figures are blind-packed in China, but AliExpress sellers and some U.S. case sellers carry them. Buyers risk duplicates and import duties, and one eBay listing asked about $150. [Source: TFW2005]
Blokees Wheels Optimus Prime Combat Deck Gets New Promo Images
New images of the Blokees Wheels Optimus Prime trailer confirm Roller and the diagnostic and repair drone. The set likely includes its own Optimus Prime, though that is still unconfirmed. Distribution outside China and pricing remain unknown. One host found Big Bad Toy Store importing the Wave 1 case and is tempted to preorder. The crew welcomed an affordable line while other toy prices climb. [Source: TFW2005]
Takara Tomy Missing Link Delta Magnus Gets a New Look
One host spotted new images of Takara Tomy’s Missing Link Delta Magnus on TFW2005. The new angle got him even more excited for the figure. [Source: TFW2005]
Takara Tomy Studio Series Devastation Bumblebee Joins This Month’s Preorders
Takara Tomy’s upcoming preorders include a Studio Series Devastation Bumblebee alongside a new Studio Series Optimus figure. One host doubts it reuses the Studio Series 86 Bumblebee mold. The promo image shows rounder shapes, with different windows, chest and arms. That surprised him, since he always thought the Studio Series 86 Bumblebee matched the game design well. Paint Your Own Bumblebee, or Else
A paint-your-own Bumblebee head kit turned up, with a ceramic or plaster head and little pots of paint. It even includes a packet of glitter. One host hates when people give his kids crafts like this, because the paint ends up everywhere. [Source: TFW2005]
Elf on a Shelf Warmer
The annual Elf on a Shelf Warmer toy drive is underway. Pick up a Transformers shelf warmer, drop it in a Toys for Tots box, and share a photo with the hashtag. Walmart’s Black Friday deluxe two-packs sell for $15, so one purchase can help two kids. Listeners without a drop box can send a toy through tfradio.net/elf, and Brian will drop it off. The drive usually runs through about the second week of December.
What We Got This Week
Don
Don got two each of the Hot Wheels Transformers Bone Shaker and Twinmill from Hasbro Pulse at regular retail. He canceled his Big Bad Toy Store order after a $5 tariff increase per figure. Target stores still list them at $29.99, and Walmart stores at $34.99. One of each stays on the card.
Diecast
Diecast got the knockoff Metroplex from AliExpress, with Six-Gun and Scamper, for about $28 shipped. The chrome looks sanded, but the stickers make it shelfable. Thanks to Don, he also grabbed Walmart two-packs: G2 Breakdown with Origins Bumblebee, Cosmos with Armada Universe Wheeljack, and Devastation Optimus Prime with a Studio Series 86 Bumblebee.
Matt
Matt had nothing in Transformers this week.
Rob
Rob got the Naruto Transformers two-pack for $27, mainly for Gamakichi. He also picked up several Walmart two-packs, and the leftover Windblade is headed to Toys for Tots. A Suruga-ya order brought the Wild King two-pack with the Megatron recolor for $35. Megatron is Voyager sized with a fantastic head sculpt, though one arm connection is loose. DHL added a $24 surcharge, including a $17 processing fee on $6 of tariffs. Rob now advises listeners to avoid DHL shipping. Another host reported the same $17 fee on a Mandarake order, and Zero G Frame says UPS now charges $15.
Chris
Chris had nothing in Transformers this week.
Brian
Brian compared protective cases from Malco, EverRetro and Katana Collectibles. Malco and EverRetro cases cost about $3 and arrive assembled. Katana Collectibles cases fit Beast Wars Deluxe and Ultra figures perfectly but cost $10 to $12 and need assembly. He also landed the carded Gold Box Combaticons from Spain sold by Artfire2000. The cards are in good shape, but Onslaught’s bubble is more yellowed than he realized. He advises buyers to check Gold Box bubbles closely.
