Age of the Primes Selects G2 Swoop and Sludge First Look
Hasbro revealed G2 Swoop and Sludge as an Age of the Primes Selects two-pack. Several people reached out to Brian about this one. Don thinks they look great and is reserving judgment on Sludge’s orange until he has it in hand. With both Grimlock versions, G2 fans now have a complete Dinobot team for the first time. Don finds Swoop the more striking of the two but worries Sludge’s knees will be as loose as the original release. The designs trace back to Jim Sorenson’s book, and the crew thanked him for it. One host noted Swoop matches a common Fall of Cybertron Starscream test shot, and joked that Sludge is cosplaying Goku. Wish lists followed: a lighter turquoise Grimlock, reverse-color Slag and Snarl, Diaclone colors, and Don’s running Killing Jar gag. [Source: TFW2005]
Robosen Sets a December 4 Reveal for Flagship Soundwave
Robosen announced that it will reveal its Flagship Series Soundwave on December 4. The crew mocked the announcement of an announcement, a habit they remember from mid-2010s third-party makers. Most expect a self-transforming tape deck, maybe with a Bluetooth speaker, and Rob wants an actual cassette player. Guesses on price ran from $700 to $1,500. One host still considers Robosen’s Grimlock the ultimate expression of the concept. Others pitched Laserbeak as a flyable drone or a cassette launcher, with a firm reminder not to aim toys at cats. Blokees Wheels Transformers Wave 1 Literally In Hand
New photos show Blokees Wheels Wave 1 cars sitting in someone’s palm, which gives a real sense of scale. Chris loves how Hound and Swindle look, with sharp, vibrant paintwork. He still dislikes the styling of Dragstrip and Mirage, and another host finds the IDW Prowl a little weird. A video shows the Optimus Prime cab flipping forward to reveal its seats. The crew joked that the line finally gives fans the IDW alt modes the comics rarely showed. [Source: TFW2005]
Blokees Wheels Optimus Prime Trailer Promo Image
China is getting a trailer for the Blokees Wheels IDW Optimus Prime. Hinges suggest it opens into a combat deck, possibly with extras like the repair drone or Roller. It is not yet clear whether the cab comes with it. The crew expects AliExpress sellers or Show-Z Store to offer it outside China eventually. [Source: TFW2005]
Blokees Wheels Nemesis Prime Revealed
A Nemesis Prime version of the Blokees Wheels Optimus Prime cab is coming, but it is hard to get. Buyers reportedly must scan the QR codes from every Wave 1 car, then order from the Blokees Taobao store. The crew hopes it becomes officially available elsewhere, as the Defender Constructicons’ Devastator parts eventually did. [Source: TFW2005]
First Look at Age of the Primes Brawl’s Leg Mode
Photos show Age of the Primes Brawl in leg mode, and one host kind of hates it. The crew expects a Bruticus frame piece to complete the foot. The source video also showed stress marks on Brawl’s mid-body hinge, with no visible ratchet. One host explained that stress marks do not always lead to breakage, and a hair dryer can often reduce them. Matt likes how the Combaticons look standing together, and the crew is reserving judgment until the full combiner appears. [Source: Snakas Blog]
NFL x Transformers In-Hand Images
New in-hand images of the NFL x Transformers figures arrived, including Tundra Prime. One host likes the idea but thinks they look like off-brand Transformers. Rusted Cross from the RFC Discord got the Steelers figure and says the plastic is solid and rigid. The crew floated college football versions, and one host would buy an orange Tennessee Volunteers figure. [Source: TFW2005]
Elf on a Shelf Warmer
The Elf on a Shelf Warmer toy drive continues. Drop a new toy in a Toys for Tots box, ideally a shelf warmer like Devastation Optimus Prime, and post it with the hashtag. Unopened collectibles count as new toys. One host reminded listeners that kids need more than Transformers, and stores like Ross, Marshalls and Ollie’s have bargains. Listeners without a drop box can use tfradio.net/elf.
What We Got This Week
Brian
Brian had nothing in Transformers this week.
Diecast
Walmart’s early Black Friday sale had classic Blokees for $5 each. Diecast ordered Scourge and Dark of the Moon Megatron, but received Megatron and Optimus Primal. He reordered Scourge, leaving only Optimus Prime missing. He also found a clearance Classics Seaspray with a decent card for $13.62.
Don
Don had nothing in Transformers this week.
Matt
Matt bought a Generations Sandstorm with the unmasked face on eBay to join his season three crew. Before Big Bad Toy Store auto-shipped his pile, he collected the Super7 Ultimates Alligaticon and Studio Series 86 Galvatron. Galvatron turned out to be missing a knee paint application, which Matt will touch up. He also got Overcharge, the Marvel Legends Death’s Head and a second Silverbolt to complete his Aerialbots and Superion.
John
John had nothing in Transformers this week.
Chris
Chris spotted Lifeline and Alpha Trion at Walmart but passed at $43 each. He grabbed two $5 Blokees Galaxy Series 6 blind boxes. The first was Sunstreaker, with clean printing. The second was IDW Megatron, which he calls pretty damn nice. He wants to paint the face for depth and glue the fusion cannon ring. Its blast effect uses a 5mm post, which gives him hope for Blokees Wheels accessories.
Rob
Rob got a Super7 prototype-colors Arcee from Amazon for $3 to pair with his Missing Link Arcee and prototype Unicron. He also bought three Blokees Optimus Primal kits from Rise of the Beasts at Walmart for $5 each. One is headed to Elf on a Shelf Warmer.
