Takara Announces Act 3 of the G1 PVCs
Takara has named the Act 3 lineup of its PVC figures before Act 2 has even shipped. It includes Fortress Maximus, Raiden, Sixshot, Chromedome, Soundwave, Bumblebee and Ironhide. John DeLuna likes Soundwave, Bumblebee and Ironhide as sales-driving picks. He could do without Fortress Maximus and Raiden, though he understands them for a Headmasters-era wave. He is glad there is no Optimus Prime variant. John worries Takara has painted itself into a corner by moving through G1 eras, since Victory and Masterforce offer few iconic characters. He guesses a repainted Ironhide as Ratchet could be a premium. [Source: alt.toys.transformers]
Nightslash Cheetor and Strika Hit Stores
After the slowest stretch John has ever seen on ATT, new Beast Machines toys revived the newsgroup. Nightslash Cheetor and Strika are turning up at Walmart and Target, along with Beast Changer, two repainted Dinobots and Sonic Attack Jet. John picked up Nightslash Cheetor and Strika at his Walmart and plans to review them next week. [Source: alt.toys.transformers]
Opening
Brian Kilby apologizes for another late show. A listener, James Bull, wrote about Brian’s Transformers: The Movie review, defending the camera work as skilled animation. Brian clarifies that he means hard cuts between camera angles, like in the Daniel and Hot Rod fishing scene, not moving camera shots. Brian also got the Totally MAD CD-ROM, with every MAD Magazine from 1952 to 1998. A search turned up Totally Logical Transformers by Al Jaffee, and grabs are on the RFC site. A listener asks if anyone remembers a similar GoBots spoof.
ATT Buzz
A thread asks fans for their first Transformers comic, episode and toy. John admits he remembers only about five seconds of Call of the Primitives from childhood. He also recalls City of Steel, Golden Lagoon and the Cosmos episode where natives treat him as a god. John closes by wishing Zobovor a happy 25th birthday and thanking him for all he does for the fandom.
Trivia
Last week’s clip came from Rebirth Part 1, bringing RFC trivia full circle to its first question from Rebirth Part 3. Winners include Mop-Boy and Chris Triplett, also known as Hitman Pez. Brian plays a new clip twice.
Bad Poets Corner
This week’s poem pokes fun at off-topic posts on ATT.
RFC on Your Site
Brian thanks the sites carrying RFC through the RFC on Your Site promotion. The link is at the top right of tfradio.net.
Dubbed Line of the Week
From the first Headmasters dub, Sixshot introduces himself to Ultra Magnus as “the ninja consultant for the Decepticons.” Brian points listeners to the dubs at TF Headquarters, TF Archive and Transfans. Goldimus Prime says hello from IRC as the show closes.
