Studio Series 86 Megatron splits the panel, and Scavenger and Mixmaster finally show off Devastator in color. New 2026 Listings Found: Age of the Primes, Studio Series Titan, Commanders and Exclusives
JT Prime came out of retirement with a long list of 2026 listings just before the show. Age of the Primes skips a Titan next year because Studio Series gets one, and two Commanders are planned. The crew bets Commander one is Onslaught and Commander two is Hot Spot. Age of the Primes also lists Voyager Swindle, sized up to bear weight as a leg, plus Voyager Vector Prime, Deluxe Jalopy, Joyride and Tailgate. Leader Liege Maximo and a mystery Leader Unicron Soldier sparked guesses. Exclusives include retro Wheelie and Outback, a Beast Wars Predacon multipack and an Energon pack. JT Prime said the Mini-Con pack comes with Powerlinx Red Alert, and the Studio Series role-play item is likely the Matrix. Studio Series adds Voyager 86 Cyclonus, Deluxe 86 Wheeljack, Leader Blitzwing and a Leader 86 sleep-mode Optimus Prime. One host hopes Cyclonus retools the Kingdom mold in the Unite Warriors colors. Comics-based Fortress Maximus and Soundwave reach Studio Series in early 2027. JT Prime said the Soundwave is the long-awaited purple Soundwave, a retool of the new 86 mold. [Source: TFW2005]
Transformers Cyberworld First Trailer
The first Transformers Cyberworld trailer is out, and TFW2005 posted screencaps. One host said the stills look better than Beast Wars. Another doubts the series will really look this good. The show premieres July 12, 2025. [Source: TFW2005]
40th Anniversary Selection Lio Convoy Gets a New Release Date
Takara now says 40th Anniversary Selection Lio Convoy ships at the end of August. It was delayed close to release over manufacturing defects that kept the toy from transforming. The crew gave Takara full credit for stopping to make sure the toy actually works. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series Leader Class G1 Megatron Official Stock Images
Studio Series 86 Leader Megatron is a G1 Megatron robot first, with a tank made out of him. One host loves the robot mode. Chris is impressed by the engineering but has no desire to own it. He sees inconsistent surface detail, lower legs that look like another toy, and a fusion cannon inverted from the Sunbow model. Others agreed the cannon looks too big at the back and stubby at the front. One host thinks the smooth chest panel clashes with the rest of the figure. One host expects the cooler in-hand photos are closer to reality than Takara’s warmer stock shots. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series Deluxe Scavenger and Voyager Mixmaster Official Stock Images
Scavenger’s first clear look drew jokes about a very full diaper and a bodacious codpiece. One host dislikes the ball-jointed shoulders on a deluxe. The images also give the first full color look at Studio Series Devastator. The crew likes everything from the knees up. Most agreed Mixmaster and Scrapper look undersized as legs, and the back of Devastator is a mess below the knees. Others argued the ugliness has to go somewhere for the front to be this accurate. Studio Series Transformers One Deluxe Starscream and Elita-1
The Studio Series Transformers One Deluxe Starscream drew praise for a stellar robot mode. One host thinks it is what fans should have gotten for his first Cybertronian jet toy. Deluxe Elita-1 is still pink, and one host is amazed it is actually coming out. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series Deluxe Age of Extinction Widowmaker First Look
Widowmaker comes from Age of Extinction concept work for a character replaced by Stinger. The crew loves the McLaren car mode. One host wants a replacement head to make it Transformers: Prime Knock Out. Its legs reportedly transform like the Prime Vehicon, a plus for fans of unusual transformations. [Source: TFW2005]
Missing Link C-09 Anime Bumblebee and Cliffjumper Official Images
Takara’s Missing Link anime Bumblebee and Cliffjumper set has nicely balanced light gray limbs and good head sculpts. One host likes the look but won’t pay around $90 to $100 for the pair. Another would have preferred opaque windows. [Source: TFW2005]
Synergenex Transformers x Zoids x Diaclone Shield-D-Prime Price Revealed
Shield-D-Prime is up for preorder at 38,500 yen, about $269. The crew still can’t make themselves care. One host would pay $120 to $130 at most. Others wish Takara had gone with a Liger Zero Lio Convoy or an Iron Kong Optimus Primal, though a Genosaurer Megatron would win them over. Based on the 1/60 scale Dianauts, the crew estimates it stands about a foot tall. [Source: TFW2005]
MPG-18 Masterpiece Hauler Official Images
Several hosts called MPG-18 Hauler a really good Masterpiece toy they just won’t buy. Don owns third-party Masterpiece Inferno figures instead, including Ocular Max’s version. [Source: TFW2005]
Dramatic Capture Series Reflector, Thundercracker and Kremzeek Set
The first Dramatic Capture Decepticons set includes all three Reflector robots, his convention-exclusive camera parts in animation colors, Thundercracker and Kremzeek. The crew noted the much more saturated colors. One host is glad the camera parts are available again, since Reflector looks better with them. Someone preordered on the spot. The crew guessed a later set brings Skywarp with Ironhide and Bluestreak from the cartoon’s aerial chase. [Source: TFW2005]
Wild King Wave 3 Official Stock Images
Wild King Wave 3 brings the large Optimus Prime and Megatron core robots in black, as two-packs. The crew says they look stellar. One host is suddenly glad to have skipped the original core robots and wants these instead. That host loves the Shadowblade Megatron look as a counterpart to the Nemesis Prime colors. Swapticons Wave 2 Two-Packs In-Hand Images
Swapticons Wave 2 pairs Snarl with Grimlock, and their combined form puts a T-rex front half on Snarl’s back end. One host called it extremely early 1900s dinosaur science. Shadow Panther and Ravage is a redeco of the Wave 1 Tigatron and Cheetor pack. Starscream and Slipstream recolor the same loosely termed jet molds. [Source: TFW2005]
Funko Jumbo Chan Optimus Prime First Look
Funko’s 14-inch Jumbo Chan Optimus Prime has eyes the crew begged everyone not to look into. One host joked a tired Funko designer is taking revenge for years of complaints about soulless Pop eyes. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, is limited to 1,200 and costs $250. [Source: TFW2005]
What We Got This Week
Chris
Chris got both Amazon exclusive two-packs, Top Spin vs. Spinister and Ironfist vs. Carnivac. His Top Spin felt like a dud, but David Moles from There Goes My Money convinced him to try a second copy. He loves the Jumpstarter molds, a labor of love for John Warden, and wants more colorways. Top Spin’s gun is painted so thick its tabs no longer fit. Carnivac’s deep purple is gorgeous, with a nearly perfect plastic-to-paint color match. A redesigned cockpit hatch should stop the hinge cracks that plagued Weirdwolf. Ironfist blends Earthrise Hound tooling with Siege Hound ideas and an IDW-inspired head. His Lightformer cannon plugs securely into the roof. Heavy paint on both sets means careful storage to avoid chipping.
Don
Don got the Top Spin vs. Spinister set and likes that this Spinister includes his Targetmasters. He thinks the colors nod to Matrix Quest and will look right on a comic shelf. He calls the Diaclone Top Spin gorgeous. His Ironfist vs. Carnivac set is still on the way. Don also got the Matrix of Leadership role-play piece, and Amazon refunded the price drop.
John
John got the same four toys Chris covered. Carnivac is his standout, though he wishes it were a little brighter.
Rob
Rob grabbed the SDCC Death’s Head on sale for $30 on Amazon. It is still unopened, but the packaging looks like early 90s Marvel trading cards. It is big and imposing, with plenty of accessories.
Matt
Matt also got both Amazon sets. Spinister’s colors make no sense to him, so he moved the Targetmasters to his correctly colored Spinister. Top Spin looks fantastic in Diaclone colors, but his copy is a bobblehead and one waist clip resists. Carnivac’s colors sell him, and he will keep it in wolf mode. Ironfist was the main event, a figure he has wanted since Siege Hound first appeared. The thick yellow paint on the Lightformer cannon means he will leave it assembled.
Diecast
Diecast got both Amazon two-packs, still unopened. A TFSource sale also landed him Ocular Max Hubcap and Blue Cliffjumper at $20 each.
Brian
Brian got the Amazon two-packs and the Matrix of Leadership role-play piece. HasLab Omega Prime finally arrived, though he hasn’t opened it. He tried Zuru’s Transformers Mini Brands from Target at $5 a ball, pulling a robot Megatron and a vehicle Wheeljack, and won’t buy more. He also grabbed the big transforming Optimus Prime remote control car on Walmart clearance for about $30. A Transformers Land sale got him a sealed Target exclusive Magmatron set. He added a carded Diaclone Condor, the Laserbeak precursor. Last, he bought a sealed e-Hobby Laser Magnus from Mandarake for his G2 shelf.
