Jack Reynor has been cast opposite Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4, which is a new trilogy, not a reboot. They cover new shots of the Year of the Snake Omega Supreme, Masterpiece MP-16 Rumble and Beast Hunters Ripclaw. Rob Clay and Exvee review four IDW comics. Transformers Rewind revisits the G1 episode “Roll for It.”

Soundwave and Soundblaster Pickups
Chris Triplette ordered both the new Soundwave and Soundblaster from Big Bad Toy Store and thinks Soundblaster looks better. Rob Clay went with Soundblaster because it’s what ToysRUs.com had. Blaster, coming later, has a new head and torso. [Source: not found]
Jack Reynor Cast in Transformers 4
Jack Reynor will play a lead role alongside Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4. It’s described as a new trilogy, not a reboot. None of the hosts knows who Reynor is, but they’re glad he isn’t Sam Witwicky. One host thinks Reynor will play Wahlberg’s son. [Source: not found]
ShartaCon’s Death Quintesson Custom Class
ShartaCon, a first-year convention near Charlotte organized by longtime fan Eric, will offer a custom class from Frenzy Rumble on a Death Quintesson. Brian, Chris Triplette, Rob Springer and Diecast plan to attend, and RFC will hold a panel and get-together. Brian also admires Eric’s collection, featured on a TFSource blog. [Source: not found]
Year of the Snake Omega Supreme
New shots of the Year of the Snake Omega Supreme have Brian drooling. The crew says the Energon mold looks better than the original Omega Supreme in these colors. The Year of the Snake Energon Optimus Prime doesn’t look bad either. The crew also names Armada deluxe Optimus Prime among their favorite Optimus toys. [Source: TFormers]
Masterpiece MP-16 Rumble
Photos of Masterpiece MP-16 Rumble show him with his earthquake pile drivers. Brian says ten-year-old Brian is having a fit. Brian prefers Rumble in red and wants both Rumble and Frenzy. He thinks Masterpiece Soundwave could be the best Masterpiece yet and hopes a G2 tank Megatron or Galvatron comes next. [Source: TFormers]
Tommy Kennedy Speaks
David Schultz connected with Jason Jansen, who played Tommy Kennedy on The Transformers: Optimus Prime puppet segments, for a Q&A on his blog. One host first saw those segments on tapes from Rockman 666. They aired early Saturday mornings in his area. [Source: not found]
Beast Hunters Ripclaw
First looks at Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Ripclaw impress the crew. One host says it’s a female, a new character and likely hard to find, so he plans to pre-order. Another says it reminds him of the Fantastic Four villain Annihilus. One host also likes the Beast Hunters packaging more than the plain white Prime packaging. [Source: TFormers]
Encore Anime-Color Devastator
An in-package shot of the Encore anime-color Devastator shows greener green and purpler purple, possibly with a new head. The crew says the mold isn’t worth Encore prices, and one host is happy with his $5 Big Lots Devastator. [Source: TFormers]
Comics Review
With a spoiler warning, Rob Clay and Exvee review four IDW comics. Rage of the Dinobots #2 feels decompressed, with little character and art that got clunkier. Regeneration One #87 suffers from Simon Furman’s preset arc lengths and the genetic evil-switch idea. A UK-style morbid joke was a highlight. Robots in Disguise #13 is the best of the bunch, told from Starscream’s perspective. They praise Starscream’s motives and speculate Metalhawk and the unaligned Cybertronians may take over. Spotlight Thundercracker is the least consequential, a character study set in the past. They flag Waspinator’s cameo and an out-of-place Bumblebee.
Rescue Bots Review: Little White Lies
Aimee and Nicole Hale review the season one finale, “Little White Lies,” written by Brian Hohlfeld. Chief Burns thinks his kids forgot his birthday, tells a small lie to pick up a cake, and ends up trapped in a flooding mine with Chase. The episode teaches that even little white lies have consequences. They enjoyed watching black-and-white Chase wrestle with the idea. No date has been announced for season two.
Transformers Rewind: Roll for It
The crew revisits “Roll for It,” Chip Chase’s first episode. Megatron, back in contact from Cybertron, sends the Decepticons after an antimatter formula. Chip controls an injured Prowl over a computer link. One host says this was the episode he watched most as a kid, since it was the only one he had on VHS until he was 16. The crew praises how the show treats Chip’s wheelchair as irrelevant. They mock the idea of linking Prowl’s battle computer to a random modem. They also note Soundwave’s unmodulated voice, the episode’s real sense of loss and Megatron’s line about one small boy.
