Transformers Tuesday Part 4: Generations Selects Spinout and Cordon Two-Pack
The fourth Transformers Tuesday reveal is a Diaclone homage two-pack built from the Sunstreaker mold. Cordon gets some remolding for his light bar. One host jokes that Hasbro timed it for his birthday, and Brian notes that Matt is very happy. The crew agrees both figures look better than Sunstreaker, since neither suffers under yellow plastic. What Should the Last Transformers Tuesday Be?
With one Transformers Tuesday reveal left, the crew speculates. One host wants a deluxe Dead End to homage the Armada Unicron partner. Another hopes for an eHobby-style Sunstorm on the Earthrise Starscream mold, in orange rather than yellow. His prediction is Powered Convoy, the Delta Magnus colors on the Ultra Magnus mold. More wishes include Black Zarak on the Titan Class Scorponok mold, Slicer from Wheeljack and more Diaclone colors. Patrons suggest Delta Magnus, a G2 Blackout concept seeker, Artfire, Bengal Tigatron and the Ark.
Toy Fair New York Postponed and Hasbro PulseCon Announced
The Toy Association postponed Toy Fair New York, with plans for something in spring 2021, and Toy Fair Dallas moves to next year. The crew is disappointed but not surprised. They expect Hasbro to stream its reveals and farm out exclusive previews to the usual outlets. Hasbro also announced PulseCon, a virtual event on September 25 and 26 for the US and Canada. One host sympathizes with fans in the UK and elsewhere who feel left out. He doubts Hasbro means to exclude them, since Hasbro Pulse only sells to those two countries. Former convention exclusives will go on sale during the event, and the crew hopes this year beats the bots. [Source: SYFY Wire] [Source: Toy Fair New York]
Second Netflix War for Cybertron Spoiler Pack Is Nemesis Prime
The second spoiler pack pairs the Siege Optimus Prime cab with a black Earthrise trailer and the Power of the Primes add-on weapons. It is also available from Hasbro Pulse and fan retailers. One host wants the red Slitherfang and an Earthrise-mold Nemesis Prime. Fans note the black trailer suits a G2 Optimus Prime built from the darker Netflix Earthrise Optimus, but Matt finds piecing that together far too expensive. One host theorizes that Walmart backed out of its order. He compares it to Hasbro moving unsold Ultra Magnus spoiler packs to fan retailers. [Source: Toy Hype USA]
Ratchet and Lifeline Launch the Galactic Odyssey Collection
The Paradron Medics two-pack kicks off the Galactic Odyssey Collection, a series of Amazon exclusives set between Siege and Earthrise. The crew dislikes Ratchet’s black legs and wants a G1 Ratchet with red hands. One host plans to swap in Siege Ratchet parts. The packaging maps the Ark’s journey across five planets. The crew connects Dominus to the Headmasters Planet Master, Biosphere to Planet Beast and Botropolis to GoBots. Micron could bring Micromasters or the missing cassettes, and the crew hopes for a Buzzsaw. [Source: ActionFigure411]
Who’s That Generations Selects? TakaraTomy Teases Volcanicus
TakaraTomy’s official Transformers account teased the next Generations Selects project with a silhouette. Autobase Aichi identified it as Volcanicus, with the cleaver swords from Fall of Cybertron’s Grimlock in the background. The crew rules out Dinoking and guesses at cartoon-accurate or G2-colored Power of the Primes Dinobots. Brian will likely skip it either way. John suggests it could be a hodgepodge of obscure characters, like Grand Galvatron. [Source: TakaraTomy Transformers on Twitter]
What We Got This Week
Don
Don was out this week, so Brian reported for him. Don ordered Earthrise Arcee from Amazon and received a Cyberverse Arcee instead, his third.
Chris
Chris got the Earthrise Quintesson Judge, which he calls very good at being a floating egg with five faces. He finds the face-cycling lever too aggressive, but likes the prison base mode and the floating chair. A second Judge is coming from Target’s buy one, get one half off sale. He also got Deluxe Allicon, a crouching robot with an alligator head. He dislikes the riveted alt-mode arms but still has two more on preorder. His last pickup is ConstructBots Soundwave, bought for its jet engine parts. They give his Generations Selects Rotorstorm a Turbomaster look, an idea he credits to a Japanese Twitter user.
Matt
Matt likes Snapdragon more than most, though the dragon mode is the weakest of the three. Earthrise Scorponok is heavier than he expected, and its Mega Zarak head transforms in surprising ways. Sky Lynx arrived on a bad day and saved it. Matt calls him big, poseable and glorious.
Diecast
Diecast got the Quintesson Judge too. He finds the chair’s peg too long to sit flush and suggests sanding it. He likes the three faces with movable mouths, thinks it is worth $30 and has ordered at least three Allicons.
John
John passed, saying he had nothing different from everyone else.
Rob
Rob had nothing new, but his Sky Lynx just shipped.
Brian
Brian got the Quintesson Judge and Earthrise Megatron, which looks more like G1 Megatron than Siege side by side. He finds Earthrise Arcee pretty horrible, with thin panels and an inelegant backpack transformation. The crew suggests Thrilling 30 Arcee or Energon Arcee instead.
