Hasbro’s Kingdom Press Box
Hasbro sent Brian a Kingdom promotional box. Inside are two Kingdom figures, Netflix War for Cybertron figures including Cheetor and the DCS Army Drone, an IDW comic and a Beast Wars season one special edition. Four art prints round it out, and the box itself is gorgeous. His Pulse Fan Fest swag also arrived, led by a Fortnite Nerf pump shotgun.
News
Hasbro Pulse revealed Shattered Glass Megatron, the Siege and Earthrise Megatron mold turned into a jet with add-on parts. It still converts to a tank. Don never expected this mold to tempt him, but he loves it. One host notes it makes a second G1 Megatron cosplaying a Unicron Trilogy Megatron toy, like the original Shattered Glass figure. Another host can see a future Transformers Prime Megatron repaint. Each figure comes with an issue of a five-part IDW Shattered Glass miniseries. Don likens the setup to a BotCon set sold one figure at a time. [Source: TFRadio]
Reports say rising material and shipping costs will raise prices on Nerf and likely everything else. The crew notes prices have roughly doubled over 20 years. Shattered Glass Megatron opened at $29.99 for Pulse Premium, then rose to $36.99 for everyone. One host suspects the first price was a mistake rather than a Premium perk. [Source: TFRadio]
Hasbro Is ‘Actively Developing’ NFT Opportunities, Says CEO
Hasbro’s quarterly earnings call mentioned looking into NFTs. Brian explains them as a digital ownership record with resale royalties. One host once quadrupled his money flipping Garbage Pail Kids NFTs. Others worry about energy use and call it speculation, and one compares the resale cut to a kickback. Rob argues a public company almost has to tell shareholders it is looking at a hot market. Diecast quips in chat that Funko Pops are plastic NFTs. [Source: The Block]
What We Got This Week
Rob got Generations Selects Star Convoy from AliExpress for about $60 shipped. His copy has loose tolerances, and the chest crest will not tab in. He still loves the inner robot with its toy-style Optimus Prime head. He thinks the engineering should have become a Powermaster Optimus Prime.
Don got Zoteki Megatron and Grimlock statues on markdown at Target. At GameStop he picked up ReAction Blitzwing, Blaster and Dirge, plus Deep Cover with reward points. At Walmart he found Netflix Cheetor, the Sparkless Bot and the DCS Army Drone. He also got Chosen Prime’s Beastbox and Squawktalk kit for his Netflix Soundwave, and Mastermind Creations Exodus, a Getaway homage.
John had only non-Transformers pickups this week.
Matt had only non-Transformers pickups this week.
Brian found two Walmart kids meal G2 Optimus Prime puzzles on eBay for about $8 total. He also got a 1998 McDonald’s Beast Wars Transmetals display, half Transformers and half My Little Pony, for about $30. His last pickup is a G2 Bumblebee.
Diecast showed a Make Toys seeker, a bright green TFSource release that looks better in hand than in photos.
