Super7 reveals a new wave of Transformers ReAction figures, and the crew is not impressed. Ben Yee tours the new Toys R Us at New Jersey’s American Dream Mall, and the HasLab Victory Saber backer update shows steel molds being cut.
For Christmas, the crew shares holiday Transformers memories, from Don’s Aerialbots swap to his race for Fortress Maximus. Brian lands Cloud Brawn.
Remembering 7:58
The episode number sparks memories of the 7:58 meme on alt.toys.transformers. A fan posted at 7:58 p.m. before Beast Machines premiered on YTV in Canada at 8, and the thread ran for about two years. One host calls it the worst thread in the newsgroup’s history and is still scarred.

Super7 ReAction Transformers Wave Revealed
Super7 revealed a new wave of Transformers ReAction figures: Prowl, Grimlock in Dinobot mode, Arcee and Reflector. Don wanted more dynamic card art, like Arcee in her classic shooting pose, instead of a static stance. Brian is not impressed, and one host says Prowl looks terrible. The crew sorts out which Reflector member the figure represents, likely Spyglass or Viewfinder. One host would rather have the coming X-Transbots Reflector. [Source: Super7 on Twitter]
Toys R Us Returns to Retail at the American Dream Mall
Ben Yee of BWTF toured the grand opening of a new Toys R Us at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey. Brian says the mall store looks like a real Toys R Us, though its layout recalls KB Toys. It includes a Transformers display, and Brian hopes a Charlotte mall gets one too. The crew praises Ben as one of the fandom’s good people. [Source: BWTF]
HasLab Victory Saber Backer Update: Steel Molds
The latest HasLab Victory Saber update shows the steel molds being cut with laser etching. Chris explains the injection molding basics it covers, including slide-in parts that allow overhanging shapes. Next the molds get polished and test shots begin, revised until parts fit. With about 19 steel molds to cut, Chris says the December 2022 delivery date makes sense. He adds that Saber and V-Star parts share runners, so a Saber-only release is not simple. [Source: not found]
Christmas Transformers Memories
Brian’s only Transformers Christmas gift he remembers is Brainstorm, which he still has. Don guessed Perceptor from the box on Christmas Eve but opened Jetfire instead of the Aerialbots he wanted. His mom took Jetfire back to Toys R Us, where he dug out the last Aerialbots gift set. Another year he got Scorponok and put his gift money toward Fortress Maximus. Don found the store’s only Fortress Maximus, came up short for sales tax and raced home to borrow $20 from his mom.
What We Got This Week
Chris had no Transformers pickups this week.
Diecast showed a transforming sniper rifle figure in white and blue that reminds him of Fortress Maximus. He wishes the Optimus Prime head were more creative.
Rob got Kingdom Dracodon, a gift from Val Keysis on Twitter. He calls it a simple, fun figure, though one soft plate on the skeleton mode does not connect well.
Don got reissue Beast Wars Megatron and Optimus Primal in the Walmart.com sale. Prices dropped again days later, so he plans to reorder and return the first set.
Brian got Slammer, a Hasbro Pulse Con My Little Pony Optimus Prime to open, and Transformers vs. Terminator, Transformers/My Little Pony and Star Trek vs. Transformers trade paperbacks. His big find was Cloud Brawn, a canceled GTO figure revived for Cloud, for about $110 on eBay. Brian calls it the new centerpiece of his collection.
