BotBots Returns: Series 6 Arrives as Amazon Exclusives
BotBots series 6 is coming as Amazon exclusives, ahead of the BotBots Netflix series debut. The lineup includes the Custodial Crew, Pet Mob, Hunger Hubs and Gamer Geeks, plus the long-rumored vehicles and multipacks. Brian preordered the full set for about $220, with delivery dates around April 2023. Chris’s verdict, relayed by Brian, is that the bots are back but cost a lot. Brian’s favorites include a console Blaster, an Autobot symbol, a watermelon, a turkey and a rat. Don gets Rock Lords vibes from the chunky vehicles. Sadly, there is still no basketball. Walmart Collector Con returns with R.E.D. Shockwave and Kingdom-style reissues: Wolfang, Cybershark, Buzzsaw, Sandstorm and Nightprowler. Don says R.E.D. should cover characters that cannot work as Transformers, like Autobot X or Defcon. Brian thinks the line targets lapsed fans who remember Optimus Prime, so the obvious picks make sense. It follows Target’s Haulathon, which left many stores with no stock or end caps. Prime vs Prime teased Legacy Blitzwing with blurred photos, and Autobase Aichi posted clearer images. Brian loves the wide-shouldered robot mode, especially next to Astrotrain. The tank mode keeps the jet cockpit on the front, and the jet mode is where the sacrifices went. One host notes that a good jet mode would be inaccurate anyway. The crew predicts an Overcharge redeco, and one host pitches a Shattered Glass Blitzwing. [Source: Autobase Aichi]
What We Got This Week
Matt had nothing this week.
Diecast picked up the new Bumblebee release in Pittsburgh with Eric Crownover. It has a new face, replacing the earlier mask, and a more gold yellow he enjoys.
Don got Studio Series Thrust from Amazon Warehouse for $20 after third-party prices hit $40 to $50. A Target employee checked the back and found him Legacy Bulkhead. Reviews make him unsure about Kickback and Arcee.
Brian found Legacy Blaster in Legacy packaging at Target, plus Bulkhead, Kickback, Arcee, Dragstrip and Skids. Bulkhead feels like Prime Bulkhead through a G1 filter. Kickback looks great but is too big for him, and he dislikes the wings. Arcee looks right. Dragstrip should be the most basic, yet Brian likes him most and is intrigued by the split at the waist. Skids looks better than in photos, though the black shins draw the eye.
