Rumor: A Live-Action Transformers Series for Paramount+
A rumor claims a live-action Transformers series is in development for Paramount+. The original source is a paywalled Patreon post. The crew finds it plausible. Several hosts think a ten-episode season with a Strange New Worlds-level budget could work. [Source: not found]
Stock photos revealed Studio Series Core Class Ratchet and Dark of the Moon’s pink Laserbeak, plus Legacy Voyager Armada Starscream and Predacon Inferno. Brian has waited years for a Beast Wars Inferno and loves it. Chris notes Inferno compresses like the cartoon, though the abdomen’s rocket engine doubles as the gun. Armada Starscream follows the cartoon look and uses Star Saber as its energon weapon. Brian says no modern Armada remake will match the originals. Chris also says Studio Series Voyager Ironhide and Ratchet are coming. [Source: TFRadio]
Datamining: Legacy and Studio Series 2023 Toys Including Rise of the Beasts
Walmart listings point to a Voyager Metalhawk for Legacy, possibly retooled from Starscream or G-Axis. Studio Series lists Rise of the Beasts figures, including Leader Optimus Primal and Scourge, plus Leader Snarl. There are also War for Cybertron Bumblebee and Barricade deluxes, and Core Class Studio Series 86 Rumble in blue with piledrivers. Chris floats the High Moon game designs as one theory for the War for Cybertron pair. [Source: TFRadio]
Masterpiece Lio Convoy Gets Redecoed! What’s His Name Again?
TakaraTomy is redecoing Masterpiece Lio Convoy in black for about 19,178 yen on Amazon Japan, shipping in early 2023. The crew sees it as recouping the mold, and Brian admits he will probably buy it anyway. Chris repeats his tip about using Amazon Japan gift cards to lock in the exchange rate. [Source: TFRadio]
Mark Maher shared that Velocitron Override was first pitched as a Studio Series Hot Rod partial retool. TakaraTomy’s engineers fit an all-new figure into four tools, and Cosmos into three. Chris notes a deluxe usually takes six or seven, and he worries about the precedent of fewer parts at the same price. Don worries Walmart exclusivity locks molds away. Brian would rather see more new characters and repaints with new names, and he notes Ben Montana appears to have left Hasbro. [Source: Instagram]
