Hasbro Confirms Its SDCC 2025 Transformers Panel
Hasbro confirmed its Transformers toy development team panel for SDCC 2025, set for late Friday afternoon Pacific time. Exvee expects first looks at Age of the Primes and Studio Series Wave 1 for 2026, likely as CAD renders or gray models. A Q&A should follow, along with a separate session for fan media. Since the panel lands after recording, the crew expects to cover it next week, with leaks likely before then. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series 86 Roleplay Matrix of Leadership Confirmed
JT Prime confirmed on the TFW2005 boards that the Studio Series 86 roleplay listing is a Matrix of Leadership. For about four hours, fans thought it was a five-year-old Studio Series costume set someone found in a resale shop. Exvee still loves the Halloween costume Matrix, which sits proudly on Matt’s shelf. One host hopes the new Matrix opens on a rail and plays the movie’s sound clip, and the crew thinks it could debut at SDCC. [Source: TFW2005]
LEGO Icons G1 Soundwave Officially Revealed
LEGO fully revealed Icons 10358 G1 Soundwave, with more than 1,500 pieces at $189.99. Pressing Soundwave’s play button triggers specially recorded voice lines and sound effects. The set includes Ravage, a lamppost mode and a display plaque with Soundwave’s tech specs. The crew thinks LEGO’s Ravage may beat some of Hasbro’s Ravage toys. Exvee calls Soundwave an easy home run, since everyone remembers a tape recorder. [Source: TFW2005]
LEGO Minifigure Factory Adds Transformers Prints
LEGO’s Minifigure Factory print service now offers Transformers designs. Options include Autobot and Decepticon logos, a Matrix, a Megatron face, Soundwave in tape deck mode and text like “More than meets the eye.” The crew sees it as a sign of a deepening LEGO partnership. One host would love Spike or Sparkplug minifigures someday. [Source: TFW2005]
New Blokees Listings Include a Blokees Unicron Head
New listings reveal Blokees Defender Version 04, Tyrant’s Fury, with Grimlock, Hot Rod, Scourge, Blitzwing, Shockwave and more. Galaxy Version 08, One Shall Fall, includes Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, Sludge in dino mode, a Sharkticon, Metroplex and a Unicron head. The crew wants to know how Blokees will build Unicron’s head from the same torso and limb parts every figure uses. A movie Jetwing Optimus Prime and a Transformers One Megatronus are also listed. Preorders should open this month or next. [Source: TFW2005]
DNA Design Fixes Godzilla Megatron for $65
DNA Design revealed its DK-67 upgrade kit for the Godzilla crossover Megatron. It adds a more Godzilla-like head, better arms, back ridges, new claws and a longer tail. The tail extension doubles as a drill lance, which one host compares to the Dragonzord’s weapon. The crew enjoyed the mosaic over every Godzilla logo and the classic Gundam beam saber pose in the photos. The catch is the $65 price, close to the cost of the figure itself. [Source: TFW2005]
DNA Design Repaints Wheelie as Jet Jaguar
DNA Design also turned its unofficial Wheelie figure into Jet Jaguar, the robot hero from Godzilla vs. Megalon. The crew likes the recolor. At $22, one host is glad it exists even though he is skipping the Godzilla Megatron. [Source: Big Bad Toy Store]
What We Got This Week
Don
Don used a Suruga-ya sale to grab both Godzilla crossover figures, Megatron and the Mechagodzilla-style Optimus Prime, and may still buy the DNA Design kit. He also got Missing Link Sunstreaker about three months ahead of U.S. retailers. At Ollie’s he found a Terrorcon freezer for $4.99 to go with Scourge. He added a second Age of Extinction Optimus Prime for about $35. Rob said Don ran the spectrum of sensibility on multiples this week, which became the episode title.
Rob
Rob had nothing on topic this week.
Matt
Matt got Age of the Primes Vortex from Amazon. The arm kibble gets in the way, but the simple visor-and-faceplate head sculpt looks great and would suit an Alpha Bravo repaint. Vortex leaves him building four unfinished combiners at once.
Exvee
Exvee opened Missing Link Sunstreaker. It is Diaclone-car small but heavy with die-cast metal, and the yellow paint matches the yellow plastic well. He says it represents the Missing Link idea better than Missing Link Convoy, because it looks like a new G1 toy built to pose. It cost about $90 from Suruga-ya, so he will stay selective with the line, though Missing Link Ultra Magnus would be an instant buy.
