Transformers Collaborative Stranger Things Freakwency and 8-Trax First Look
A Transformers x Stranger Things collaborative leaked: Freakwency, an 80s van with a bird robot partner named 8-Trax. 8-Trax turns into an 8-track tape that stores in the robot’s torso, and a rubber chicken accessory becomes a gun. Nobody on the panel watches Stranger Things, but everyone likes the van and robot modes. One host wishes the 8-track plugged in like a real tape. Another noted the Autobot symbol sits on the manufacturer badge, like a lapel pin. The crew expects a Code Red-style price near $50 and plans to wait for clearance, around $35 or less. The mold would also make a perfect A-Team van. [Source: TFW2005]
Possible Hot Wheels Transformers 2026 Assortment
A rumored summer 2026 Hot Wheels Transformers assortment focuses on movie character cars. The list reportedly includes a Porsche 911, a Lamborghini Aventador likely meant as Lockdown, a Camaro concept for Crosshairs, and an Optimus Prime. These appear to be carded, non-transforming cars. The crew compared them to the old RPMs and Speed Stars, minus a robot printed underneath. One host figures Diecast will want the Porsche, since he loves Mirage. [Source: TFW2005]
Spotlight Optimus Prime Three-Pack
Hasbro’s Spotlight Optimus Prime three-pack shows the production process with a grayscale model, a test shot and a finished cel-shaded figure. Rob loves the concept but hates that the cel-shaded Devastation Optimus Prime fans wanted takes three figures’ worth of paint. Don is slightly offended by the set. One host wants a flat gray primer model, a truly mismatched test shot and a normal retail deco, and would pay $50 at most, not $85. Rob also pointed out the cel-shaded tampos cover only the front of the skirt and thighs. Even so, one host ordered it, sold on the gray figure as Optimus from “The Return of Optimus Prime.” The crew floated a Toyhax sticker set as a cheaper route. [Source: Hasbro Pulse]
Transformers Swapticons Wave 2 Out at U.S. Retail
Swapticons Wave 2 is out, pairing Ravage with Shadow Panther, Snarl with Grimlock, and Starscream with Slipstream. The crew says they feel like Five Below toys and compared them to Bot Shots. One host sees them as stocking stuffers at best. Another thinks they belong at dollar stores, pharmacies and grocery stores at a $5 to $6 price point. [Source: TFW2005]
Hasbro Asia Exclusive Studio Series Devastator and Optimus Prime and Megatron Gift Sets In Hand
In-hand photos show Hasbro Asia’s Studio Series Devastator set is a Constructicon-green rolling suitcase. Inside sit the boxed Commander, two Voyagers and two Deluxes. The Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime and Megatron set comes with a foam-lined box for moving the figures out of their retail packaging. The crew found that baffling. Everyone wants the Devastator suitcase, which looks like a fine airplane carry-on. [Source: TFW2005]
Age of the Primes Deluxe Quickstrike In-Hand Images
Age of the Primes Quickstrike looks depressingly nice in new photos. It is larger than the Beast Wars basic and keeps the same number of snake arm segments. The transformation is a little simpler, and there is no clear plastic or water-squirting bladder to degrade over time. One host wants it but will wait for a sale. [Source: TFW2005]
What We Got This Week
John
A relative working an estate sale found a sealed G1 first-release Ravage and Rumble two-pack and bought it for John for one dollar. It is pre-rub sign with metal feet. John has sent it off to be graded, his first graded toy.
Don
Thanks to Eric Crownover, Don got the huge centerpiece of a convention-only combiner he had worried about completing. The orange and gold colors look great, and it has a molded upside-down Autobot symbol.
Matt
Matt used his Hasbro Pulse member discount of 25% to get another Studio Series 86 Springer.
Rob
A Target 25% off coupon got Rob the Age of the Primes four-pack with Missing Link Junior Ultra Magnus, Bumper, Horri-Bull and Animated Nemesis Prime. He was surprised to learn Horri-Bull is a partial retool of Titans Return Skullcruncher. Its tolerances and knees are much better than his Skullcruncher. His one complaint: new horn paint applied on the runner left blue marks.
Chris
Chris had nothing in Transformers this week.
Brian
Two Age of the Primes figures, including Fireflight, arrived twice because Brian forgot to cancel preorders, so the spares can go to Toys for Tots. He also got the large black dragon combining-platform figure from Wild King, with two small robots that form legs or extra dragon heads. An eBay seller’s offer landed him a sealed G1 carded Seaspray, one of his favorites. Last, he opened the box Matt filled for him at TFCon. Inside were the boxed Micromaster Combiner Constructor Squad, unpunched but needing some box repair, and a second boxed Micromaster that fills a hole in his collection.
