HasLab Omega Prime Update: 21,442 Backers With a Day to Go
With about 28 hours left, HasLab Omega Prime sat at 21,442 backers and was climbing fast. The campaign page now shows painted prototypes instead of CG renders. Matt is still undecided and finds the unpainted red chest flat without the original’s chrome. One host has backed three and is weighing a fourth for every display mode. Diecast has backed just one. Rob is skipping it, happy with the original toys. Hasbro also added removable gun barrels for Blue Bolt by squeezing them onto an existing mold. [Source: TFW2005]
Target Optimus Prime With Bullseye First Look
Target’s exclusive Optimus Prime is a Legacy Laser Optimus Prime redeco in red and white, with a trailer and Bullseye from the Siege Ravage mold. Bullseye carries a delivery parcel. Preorders open March 14 at 9 a.m. on Target, with availability June 23. Don compares it to Pepsi Optimus Prime. Rob likes that the packaging shows Prime playing fetch with Bullseye using Target’s concrete balls. Exvee wishes the Matrix were colored to read as a Target logo. [Source: TFW2005]
Target Exclusive Studio Series 86 Blaster and Eject Revealed
Target’s Studio Series 86 Blaster is a better-painted take on Legacy Blaster, and Eject is in fully opaque plastic. That means Matt will buy one, and he expects it to be easy to find later. Exvee doubts the opaque version was planned from the start, since Eject’s blue is paint over white plastic. The crew wants Rewind, Steeljaw and Ramhorn next. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series 86 Battle Damaged Ratchet In-Hand Images
The Target-exclusive battle-damaged Ratchet from the shuttle massacre looks exactly as expected. Don will buy it on clearance and swap parts to build an idealized Ratchet without the clear plastic, as he did with Ironhide. The crew expects a matching Brawn and wonders how Hasbro will show his damage. [Source: TFW2005]
Legacy United Cybertron Starscream, Shard and Chromia Stock Images
New stock photos show Legacy United Cybertron Starscream, Shard and Chromia. Cybertron Starscream still looks nice. Chromia is fine but nothing like her Cyberverse look. Diecast is more excited about Shard than the other two. [Source: TFW2005]
Legacy United Animated Optimus Prime Alternate Faceplate Head Possible First Look
Incomplete test shots of Legacy United Animated Optimus Prime, one in Jumpstarter colors, reveal an alternate head with a faceplate. The crew hopes it points to a Wingblade Optimus Prime with wings and a hammer. Matt recommends the current mold. Talk turns to how badly fans want a proper Lugnut. [Source: TFW2005]
Premium Collectibles Studio Debuts Devastator Platinum EX Statue
Premium Collectibles Studio revealed a Devastator statue at $3,500 with an early discount, $3,900 at full price, limited to 75 pieces. The crew thinks it looks like a tokusatsu suit or a Bumblebee movie design. Rob notes the statue market is its own community, since these keep selling. The crew guesses some end up decorating comic and collectible shops. [Source: Premium Collectibles Studio]
Dr. Wu Movie Collector Series MC-04 Einstein Color Prototype
Dr. Wu showed a color prototype of MC-04 Einstein, an unofficial Dark of the Moon Brains that turns into a laptop. Diecast loves the character and will pair it with his Dr. Wu Wheelie. At about eight centimeters tall, the crew is a little worried about all the small moving parts. [Source: TFW2005]
What We Got This Week
Exvee
Exvee had nothing in Transformers this week.
Rob Clay
Rob finally received the Powerlinx Hot Shot that was misdirected in the mail. The joints feel a little looser than on his first copy, but the Jolt Mini-Con is the nicest Mini-Con mold in ages.
Matt
Matt got a Studio Series 86 Junkion from Amazon. He likes how all three Junkions from the mold transform a little differently, though the colors are more peach and gold than the promos suggested. He would happily buy more characters from the mold.
Don
Don took advantage of a Target sale on a discounted Voyager figure. He says it looks a lot better than the original Transformers Prime version and is open to redecos.
Diecast
Diecast got a third-party upscaled Legacy Tarn with metallic purple paint, some die-cast parts, light-up guns and a sword for about $25 from a Taobao batch. He also got the X-Transbots Runabout set and a Studio Series 86 Arcee for about $12. He plans to pair Arcee with a parts kit, if he can find it.
