Generations Selects Exhaust, Greasepit and Hubcap Due Late Summer
A partly redacted listing gives shipping windows to three figures from an earlier leak list. It lines up with Toys R Us Canada inventory data. Chris says Exhaust interests him most because of the Masterpiece Exhaust cigarette-branding mess. He expects a Wheeljack redeco that needs the angrier Exhaust head. Hubcap should be a Cliffjumper retool, and Greasepit will likely be Ironworks without the gas pumps. A Discord member suggests a gas-pump weapon for Greasepit. Blade Raider floats Exhaust in Slicer colors, and one host wants the Prime Dead End deco on the Wheeljack mold. [Source: RFC News Desk]
San Diego Comic-Con 2020 Canceled
SDCC has been the venue for Hasbro’s big second-half Transformers reveals in recent years. The crew recalls how the Power of the Primes leak landed within a week of SDCC 2017, recorded as RFC 528. Chris doubts the cancellation hurts Transformers much. He expects reveals to move to Hasbro Pulse, media partners or a conference call in place of the fan media breakfast. [Source: Tor.com]
Hasbro Sends a BotBots Gold Rush Training Kit
Brian unboxes a BotBots care package from Hasbro. It has Series 5 five-packs, including the Hibachi pack he had been hunting. It also has a Series 4 gumball machine set, the claw machine, a BotBots water bottle, an exercise band and a jump rope. The crew is still waiting for a BotBots basketball. Hasbro shared an early stop-motion video, due on YouTube in mid-May. Brian plans to give away any duplicates.
Massey Attack Follow-Up
Listener Chris wrote back after last week’s question. He found the Massey attack from the shirt and GIF in episode 393, about 44 minutes in, at tfradio.net/393. That clip is from 2014 and predates the attack Brian found in episode 437 by almost a year.
What We Got This Week
Chris
Chris completed his Seacons with Tentakil and Overbite from Toy Dojo. Overbite is basically a reskinned Rippersnapper with loose joints but great colors. Tentakil is about 90 percent new parts on the Moonracer and Firestar skeleton, and Chris is impressed by the re-engineering. He assembled the King Poseidon sword, but Tentakil’s blade socket cracked on the first try.
Diecast
Diecast got Netflix War for Cybertron Voyagers Hot Link and Megatron, the only two Netflix figures at his Walmart. Hot Link’s flat paint has some metallic in it, but his chest plate is warped. He also bought a new View-Master and won a lot of Transformers reels on eBay. He finally transformed Masterpiece Hound and says it does not deserve its bad reputation. He also transformed the Iron Factory Tarn combiner kit, which took about two hours.
Don
Don ordered Studio Series Soundwave from Amazon Warehouse, but Amazon sent the helicopter Dropkick instead. He is returning it. He also ordered the anime-colored Masterpiece Smokescreen, his one planned Masterpiece double dip, but Hasbro Pulse has delayed it.
Matt
Matt’s only pickup this week was not Transformers.
Rob
Rob did not pick anything up this week.
Brian
Listener Bob Murphy sent Brian a working copy of The Transformers: The Movie soundtrack on cassette. Brian opened a clearance G1 commemorative Soundwave on video and ordered a sealed knockoff G1 Optimus Prime. He found a Kre-O Sideswipe and got the Netflix War for Cybertron Voyagers. His wife found clearance Rescue Bots Heatwave, Medix and a dune buggy Bumblebee. He loves Cyberverse Hammerbyte, though it took 20 minutes to transform. Last, he opened the Netflix Ultra Magnus on air. He likes it better in person than in photos. The box holds a tub of black Play-Doh hiding the Energon cubes, which baffles the crew.
