Legacy Deluxe Crankcase Listing Published Early
Amazon published a Legacy Deluxe Crankcase listing early, though it is not orderable yet. The product copy says the front grille comes off to become a large blaster, rather than a Triggercon gimmick. Chris explains Crankcase shares Skids’ shape, so expect a retool, and likely Crosscut or Reboost later. The talk turns to what late G1 is left: Thunderclash and the Turbomasters, Skyquake and the European characters. Chris would rather wait for the Turbomasters until Hasbro’s clear and gold plastic phase passes. [Source: Amazon]
More Icon Heroes Merchandise: Statue, Bookends, Mouse Pad, Pins
Icon Heroes has a new batch of Transformers merchandise. The crew likes the faction symbol bookends. Chris finds the box art pins less interesting this time, since Ravage’s leaping pose is the most repeated toy art ever. The Optimus Prime action statue’s only action is a turning head. Hasbro Pulse Opens in Germany
Hasbro Pulse is launching in Germany. Chris notes Pulse UK seems to work better than the US store, so this could help German fans. Don is frustrated that US Pulse problems persist after years. Chris agrees and wants a real returns process for defective toys, which can take up to three months to resolve. [Source: not found]
Walmart Collector Con was again hard to buy from, though Pulse later offered some of the items. Don says Walmart is leaving money on the table and creating dissatisfied customers. Brian, drawing on corporate retail experience, argues a full e-commerce fix could cost far more than the sales gained. He calls it Schrödinger’s money. The crew agrees Hasbro Pulse has no such excuse, since some fixes would be simple. [Source: TFRadio]
Brian’s official RFC review of BotBots season 1 is posted at tfradio.net. Brian and Don are the only ones who watched it, and Don’s opinion differs. [Source: TFRadio]
What We Got This Week
Don got Fire Convoy for $12.95 with free shipping, using an eBay credit. He also found a Buzzworthy Bumblebee Silverstreak at Target, the only new Transformers there in weeks. He says the Datsun mold always looks good in blue.
Chris got Core Class Hot Rod from Amazon. His copy has loose knee joints, but the transformation is cool and involved. He also got Legacy Skids and has complicated thoughts. It feels like the Earthrise Datsun mold with everything wrong. Rough nylon parts sit against smooth ABS, the hood pops up when the arms lift, and closing the car mode is a fight. Hey Mickey warns not to push Skids’ blaster fully into the forearm, because the peg can snap off. Chris will reserve judgment on Legacy until he handles another Deluxe.
Matt finally got Fangry from the Worlds Collide set on eBay at a reasonable price. The knees are weak, but it stands, and the green face stands out.
Brian got a boxed Galaxy Shuttle, the Zone release, and is now hunting a boxed Countdown. He notes Galaxy Shuttle is closer to earlier Transformers than the super robot style of late Japanese G1.
