Transformers 40th Anniversary Generation 1 Retro Blaster and Soundwave

Walmart’s Collector Con will offer Retro Perceptor plus new cartoon-deco Blaster and Soundwave reissues. One host already has too many of both. Another notes Blaster’s toy and cartoon looks were always close, and Blaster now includes Steeljaw. One host likes Soundwave’s vibrant colors but not the red visor, which looks wrong to him on the G1 mold. Another dislikes the blue-tinted chest door with Laserbeak inside. The crew muses about which reissue molds Hasbro still has, from Devastator to Bruticus. [Source: TFW2005]

Legacy United Voyager Silverbolt Official Images

Brian pre-ordered Silverbolt during the pre-show. One host says the wolf shoulders are too narrow for beast mode and too wide for robot mode. One host notes the wings are too small. Still, the face sculpt and deco are the TV show’s Silverbolt, and one host likes it better than Tigerhawk. [Source: TFW2005]

Takara Tomy Dramatic Capture Series Nemesis Bridge Official Images

Brian pre-ordered the Nemesis Bridge set. One host is disappointed that Shockwave is not the cartoon purple he hoped for. Another calls the set a great value at the current exchange rate for anyone missing Earthrise Megatron or Netflix Soundwave. He also explains how Amazon Japan gift codes can lock in a favorable exchange rate. [Source: TFW2005]

New Premium Deco Sets: Nemesis Bridge 3-Pack and BWVS-08 Starscream and Waspinator

Better photos show the BWVS-08 Waspinator in opaque plastic with a Decepticon symbol, just what one host wanted. He and Matt agree to split a set. Brian pre-ordered one too. The crew lists the many Ghost Starscream toys over the years and wishes for one on a newer Starscream mold. [Source: TFW2005]

Masterpiece MP-59 Rhinox Revealed

Masterpiece Rhinox looks great, and one host hopes it means a Masterpiece Big Convoy someday. Another has cut back but will probably get it to fill out his Maximal bridge crew. One host pushes back on Masterpiece Blackarachnia’s reputation, calling it his favorite Beast Wars Masterpiece. [Source: TakaraTomy]

Transformers Legacy United Deluxe Magneus Behind the Scenes and Official In-Hand Images

Mark Maher’s photos show Magneous still looking like charcoal. Its parts can be rearranged to look more like a rock. One host loves Junkions in the Weaponizer format but feels the Rock Lord take is not as strong. [Source: TFW2005]

Super7 Super Cyborg Clear Optimus Prime Debuts at New York Comic Con

Don, a fan of translucent plastic, likes the clear Super Cyborg Optimus Prime but hopes to find it on clearance. The crew agrees the Super Cyborg line is overpriced. [Source: Super7 on Instagram]

Transformers x Irregular Choice Clothing Line Details

Irregular Choice’s line includes Starscream null-ray shoes, Autobot-logo pumps and an Optimus Prime bag. The crew cannot imagine wearing it, though one host could see the shoes on a collector’s oddities shelf. Official Transformers smartphone cases in Japan also get a mention, and one host suggests Etsy instead. [Source: TFW2005]

Studio Series Leader Bumblebee Movie Megatron Possible First Look

A test shot leak shows a Studio Series Leader Megatron based on unused Bumblebee movie concept art. One host explains that Megatron and a larger Barricade role were cut from that film. The design blends Last Knight, Transformers Prime and G1 Megatron, and the crew likes it. [Source: TFW2005]

Legacy United Windblade In-Hand Images

Legacy United Windblade still does not win the crew over. One host wishes the hands did more than sit at her sides in jet mode. Another dislikes the hollow undersides of the thickened wings in robot mode. He sticks with his Robots in Disguise and Titans Return versions. [Source: Autobase Aichi]

What We Got This Week

Don

Don found mainline Rise of the Beasts Voyager Optimus Primal in stock on Walmart.com at regular retail after hunting for it for months.

Matt

Matt got three more Troop Builder packs from Hasbro Pulse, giving him five of everything.

Diecast

Diecast got the Takara Tomy Beast Wars two-pack of Megatron and Optimus Primal before his trip. He calls that Megatron very pretty.

Chris

Chris got the Kingdom Megatron from Rob’s Beast Wars Versus set. He calls it the best Beast Wars Megatron representation of this mold, though the beast-mode stripes are too stark. He is up to three each of Auto Troopers and G2 Troopers, thanks to Wheeljack64 and Blade Raider. At Walmart he found Legacy Strongarm and Shadow Striker. Strongarm is a heavy Elita-1 retool with a fiddlier transformation, a too-small truck mode and an excellent face deco. Shadow Striker is 90% Sideburn and a chore to transform, but the door-panel cape looks great. He also found Retro Starscream for $10, his first G1 Seeker mold.

Brian

Brian found Legacy Detritus, Strongarm, Shadow Striker and Trashmaster at Target, and Bombshell at GameStop. He also got Armada Universe Powerlinx Hot Shot, Studio Series Brawn, two Troop Builder packs and Masterpiece MPG-05 Seizan. From John, he picked up Beast Wars Second Max-B and Hellscream. He also got a Beast Wars Blackarachnia on an opened card. An Estrela yellow Windcharger turned out to be one he already owned.
