A Rise of the Beasts press event reveals five factions, a Porsche Mirage, Nightbird and the Maximals, set in the early 1990s. The crew fears a return to bloated spectacle. They agree the soundtrack may be the best part, maybe with Baby Got Back as Rhinox’s theme.
First Kingdom screencaps show strong Maximal models but weak voices. Shattered Glass Goldbug lands with a thud at $30, and several hosts review Kingdom Galvatron.

Transformers Tuesday: Shattered Glass Goldbug
Shattered Glass Goldbug, on the Earthrise Cliffjumper mold, gets a lukewarm reception. One host notes the original Shattered Glass Goldbug was a Cybertron Hot Shot recolor, so a Battle Charger mold would fit better. He also says the new head looks like a BotCon head sculpt. At $29.99, the crew sees little value in a mold they already own several times. Shattered Glass Jetfire is still to come, likely in dark Skyfire colors and around $100. One host has preordered Shattered Glass Megatron and Starscream. [Source: Hasbro on Twitter]
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Details
Ben Yee of BWTF attended a press event for Rise of the Beasts. The movie features Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Mirage as a Porsche, Nightbird, Scourge, Airazor, Rhinox and Optimus Primal. It includes five factions: Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons. Only Peter Cullen is confirmed in the voice cast. The setting moved from 1994 to likely 1992, a few years after Bumblebee. One host worries it abandons what made Bumblebee work and returns to giant spectacle. The crew notes Baby Got Back was a top 1992 single and jokes it could be Rhinox’s theme. Porsche licensed its 911, but for Mirage rather than Jazz. [Source: BWTF]
War for Cybertron: Kingdom Screencaps
A Netflix trailer offers about ten seconds of Kingdom, and Ant of TFU.info shared screencaps. The Maximal models look great, though Tigatron looks like a scaled-up Cheetor. Optimus Primal’s voice sounds generic, and the crew does not hear Garry Chalk in it. Chris reminds the crew that Kingdom is not their Beast Wars, which belongs to 1996 to 1999. Kingdom debuts in late July, and the crew hopes it avoids Masters of the Universe: Revelations’ date. [Source: TFU.info on Twitter]
What We Got This Week
Diecast got licensed Transformers Optimus Prime sunglasses with a matching case. He also got the last Magic Square Menasor set, with Dragstrip and Dead End. A Prime Day deal brought the Amazon six-pack of Micromaster cars for about $20, plus another Earthrise Grapple. He also got a Mastermind Creations female figure that sold out fast.
Rob had only non-Transformers pickups this week.
Don got Kingdom Galvatron, though he does not know which shoulder version he has.
Chris got Core Class Dracodon at Target and Kingdom Rhinox, which he has not opened. Kingdom Galvatron is very okay, with a strong look, great head sculpt and good heft. The cannon mode relies on friction and is limited to a level position. He plans to try Testors Easy Lift Off to remove the battle damage tampos.
Matt got Cyberverse Rack’n’Ruin and Kingdom Galvatron. His Galvatron has the wrong shoulders, which do not bother him much. Easy Lift Off removed the battle damage after about 40 minutes and two applications. He hopes for the toy-colored Selects Galvatron and an Energon Megatron.
John had nothing this week.
Brian got a sealed Masterforce VHS tape, a JAM Project Transformers Evo CD and a carded Rescue Force Drill Horn from Yahoo Auctions Japan. He applied the trailer stickers to his second Netflix Nemesis Prime. He also got Henkei! Henkei! black Hot Rod and clear black Mirage, a boxed Japanese Constructicon set and Road Caesar repro parts for his combiner. His grail is a Deathsaurus in great shape, missing only small Eagle Breast parts.
